Comments: My fiance is from Chandler. We've visited Chandler and Perce twice. I think its one of the most beautiful regions I've seen- the wildflowers were spectacular. I've never been there in winter but we're planning a trip for December. the only thing that I've experienced there thats negative is that I don't speak any french. Most people were very friendly, but spoke little to no english. It makes it hard to get around on my own there.

Comments: Note to Nelson descendants. My greatgrandfather James Nelson[2nd], born in 1823, was the brother of Thomas F. Nelson [Patterson info on Thomas in Sunny Bank]. The family included 9/10 children, Henrietta, Elizabeth,Sarah,Anne,Rachel, maybe Margaret,James, homas, Samuel and maybe Fredrick. All were born in New Carlisle and area. Don,t know how Thomas got to Sunny Bank. The parents of the children were James Nelson[1st] and Mary Rafter who married in 1811 in New Carlisle. The parents of James[1st] were Thoma Nelson,born ~1850 in the USA, and Elizabeth Hools, United Empire Loyalists, who emigrated to Nova Scotia in about 1784/1790. My greatgrandfather married Ann Flowers in New Carlisle in 1857. Anyone with knowledge on the some of the Nelsons of New Carlisle? Especially the girls of James[1st] and Mary. Comments: Well, it really is a small world. I am working in Pennsylvania, and I get a call from a customer with a last name Patterson. Somehow in our conversation it came up that I was Canadian, and he asked me where in Canada I was from. For some reason I said hat I just moved here from Ottawa. He then told me that his family, the Patterson's, moved to the U.S. from Gaspe, PQ in 1923. Well I almost @#$# my pants, what are the odds? He has been working on his family history for some time now, and is very anxi us to talk to you. I gave him your web site address, so be expecting to hear from him. Comments: My Patterson anscestors came from Virginia or Pennsylvania. I have both places on census. James William Patterson was my Ggrandfather. He had two families. His first wife was Sarah Jane Henry. They had 6 children. His second wife was Sarah Ann DeLong They had 10 children. James was born in 1824. They ended up in Missouri. All of the children by his second wife were born in Missouri. His first family were born in West Virginia. I don't know if any from this family went to Canada. I have no info mation on James's parents. We have some information that his father was William and his mother was Elizabeth Fulton, but a member of the family says that it is not so.

Comments: My mother was born in Gaspe, Quebec. Actually a street is named after her father in (I believe downtown Gaspe) LaCouvee Street. My grandfather was Reginald James LaCouvee and he was born there. The family moved to Vancouver, BC when my mother was twelve (She is 66 at present) She remembers attending York School and going to Holliman Beach. My grandfather ran a garage in Gaspe until the depression hit. He helped build a bridge in Gaspe (can't recall the name) and quite a few of their family is buried n a cemetery there. My mother still has cousins in Gaspe and she and my father plan a trip there this coming summer. Believe it or not, my mother cannot recall the actual name of the town in Gaspe where they lived. She met my father while he was statione in Tacoma WA. He being from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I was born and raised in Alabama and my mother has lived here since 1953, but surprisingly she has remained a Canadian citizen!

Comments: Hi: We taught an Andrew Patterson in Gaspe in 1966/67. I fished in the Dartmouth with Morris Patterson and Bruce Patterson and hunted ducks near the Hatchery with Bruce and Morris. Wilf Carter's tame geese were great decoys. I taught History, English and Nort American Lierature in Gaspe High School; my wife Alexa taught Biology and Math. John Burrell was the Principal of the school. I would love to get back there for a meal of cod tongues at Phil Stanley's restaurant -perhaps next summer.
