Gilles Gagne
Noel Condo, a 27 year-old man from Gesgapegiag, was accused of
first degree murder January 3rd at the Court House in New
Carlisle, two days after the violent death of Carry-Ann Larocque,
29, also from Gesgapegiag.
The murder occurred in Condo's house, where the victim had
already lived. According to the Serete du Quebec and from details
revealed when the alleged murderer appeared in court, the victim
probably died on January first, around 11 o'clock PM. The police
said she was strangled to death.
Panelboard plant project
submitted to Quebec Gov't
Gilles Gagne
The $150 million panelboard plant projected by Groupe GDS and the
Syndicat des producteurs de bois de la Gaspesie was officially
submitted by its promoters to Quebec government officials on
December 20th.
The feasibility study of the project has also been submitted to
Quebec Department of Natural Resources. The Ministry shared the
cost of the study with GDS and the Syndicat des producteurs de
bois. The document was realized by the consulting firm LMB, from
Quebec City.
Discrete about the details of the feasibility study, the
promoters of the plant nevertheless reveal that the potential of
the project is "exceptionnal". The plant would hire 147
workers in the Chandler area, and would generate $15 million in
spinoffs directly related to wood buying from lot owners. This
amount does not include the wages that will be paid to the 147
employees.
