It was a stunning victory: Claude Cyr, former Mayor of Pabos Mills and longtime prefect for Rocher Percé MRC, took the Mayoralty of the newly amalgamated town of Chandler by margin of 1,316 votes over his closest opponent, Michel Saint-Pierre.

The election was held Sunday, October 7 with Mr Cyr up against three others for the top job. Jacques Roy and Alain Grenier came a distant third and fourth, respectively.

"Without a doubt, there will be another Guide Competition next year!"

That's how David Bishop, a key organizer of the event, summed up the enthusiastic response to the first salmon fishing guides competition held as part of the Cascapedia - St Jules Fall Fest this past weekend.

Eight two-man teams took part in the two-day event, showing their skills in poling up and downriver, their strength in tossing the killick, and their agility in walking the gunnels.
