Requirements for obtaining a Secondary School Diploma for students registered in the Adult Education sector until June 30, 2010

 

In accordance with the regulation modifying the Adult Education Pedagogical System adopted in May 2005 and to the Directives implemented on July 1, 2006, the adult registered in Adult Education until the end of the 2009-2010 school year is subject to the following regulations in order to obtain a Secondary School Diploma:

 

Ø      The adult who will complete his training before July 1, 2010 is subject to the regulations of the A2 Certification System.  He must accumulate a total of 54 Secondary IV and V credits, as follows:

 

o       12 credits in the language of instruction, at least 6 of them at the Secondary V level;

o       6 credits in Secondary V French as a second language for adults whose language of instruction is English;

o       36 credits from optional courses, with a minimum of 18 Secondary V credits.

 

Ø      The adult who will complete his training after June 30, 2010 is subject to the regulations of the A3 Certification System.  He must accumulate 54 Secondary IV and V credits, at least 20 of them at the Secondary V level (Academic Upgrading or Vocational Training). The mandatory credits are as follows:

 

o       6 credits in Secondary V language of instruction;

o       4 credits in Secondary V second language;

o       6 credits in Secondary IV Mathematics;

o       6 credits in Secondary IV Physical Science;

o       4 credits in Secondary IV History of Quebec and Canada.

  

 

Note:   In order to obtain a Secondary School Diploma according to the regulations of the A2 or A3 Certification Systems, the adult must have obtained credits for atvleast one Secondary V course given by an Adult Education Center.
